Just recently I had the pleasure to celebrate a major milestone for someone who works for me.  Her name is Eunice, and she has been with the company for 25 years!  This is not the first time she has worked for me either, though the last time was probably about 10 years ago – Wow!  Can it really be that long ago?

Many people, when hearing that Eunice was celebrating 25 years of service, were in shock and disbelief, literally trying to do the math in their heads, and often concluding that she simply was not old enough!  While this seemed to bother Eunice a bit, I reassured her that this was a very positive response, and she should feel good about the experienced, yet youthful impression she gives. Of course, we all joked that she must have started working while still in elementary school!

The more I think about it, the more I realize how different things were 25 years ago, and yet how change has been the one constant throughout these years. By being in an environment that is constantly changing, and by embracing that change, (as opposed to fearing and fighting against it), I think it keeps us all from getting stuck in a rut. It certainly keeps us on our toes!

It is extremely gratifying to see people who have continued to grow and succeed in their careers, and at the same time demonstrate the enthusiasm and energy needed to keep things fresh. I like to say, there is never a dull moment around here, you can never get bored, and there is always an opportunity to make a difference. Having some familiar faces, along with other newer, sometimes less experienced ones, makes working here at Continental always very interesting and enjoyable. Those newer faces quickly become familiar in a very short time!

I wish you all the best for a wonderful 2014 – Wow!  Time really does fly!

I have been with Continental for over 16 years in a variety of Finance related functions. After recently returning from almost 5 years in Mexico, I am now heading our integration efforts for the Automotive group in North America. This not only leverages my prior experiences in working across functions to resolve common issues and drive process improvements, but also offers many new challenges with greater regional and global visibility. I continue expanding my network via different projects, events, and our ConNext internal social media tool. Each day I learn something new about this very dynamic global company that has over 140 years of operations. Hopefully you may benefit from the insights I have gained over my many different experiences.
