This year, we celebrated Quality Week from 9th to 13th July with the theme “My Quality, Our Future” where the five pillars of the Corporate Quality Strategy were promoted:
- Commitment to do things right
- Passion for continuous improvement
- Importance of stakeholder focus
- Quality ownership for everyone
- Recognition for quality leadership in day to day operations
Our Quality Week was filled with various interesting training sessions and workshops conducted by our local experts from the different business units. The topics covered important quality elements like Product Functional Safety, Security and Privacy in Automotive, Problem Solving, and the Fault Tree Analysis method. New topics have also been injected this year. Participants were given an avenue to learn and discuss about embedding the quality mindset in agile methodology and practices such as continuous integration, Scrum and the usage of the confluence tool to improve communication.
Don’t get me wrong – Quality Week is not just about having training sessions and workshops all day long for the entire week! We also organized a Quality Week Roadshow (10th July). There were 12 Roadshow booths. Out of these 12, one of them was the HR booth and the other nine were manned by R&D engineers from different business units. DRBFM process, Design for Six Sigma, Poke Yoke Method, FMEA method and Lessons Learned from Projects were among those showcased and presented in these R&D booths.
The remaining two of the 12 Roadshow booths were allotted to “Dare to Challenge” game booths namely “One Continental” and “Move it Move it”. Balls, spoons and cups were used in both challenges with winners earning attractive prizes to reinforce in a fun way the Corporate Quality Strategic topics – Transparency, Execution Discipline, Ownership, and Robustness.
To encourage colleagues to show appreciation to those who have demonstrated quality leadership in their area of work, a quality appreciation corner was set up during the Quality Roadshow. Colleagues were invited to write short appreciation messages on a thumbs-up card for their colleagues and these were posted all over the linkway between the main and annex buildings for everyone to view. When our Managing Director, Mr. KF Lo, walked through the linkway later that day, he selected five thumbs-up cards and the corresponding authors received attractive prizes!
Finally, with all the activities surrounding the roadshow, there was room for one more – the lucky draw. Aside from the appreciation token given to all participants, they were also entitled to a chance to win the lucky draw. From hundreds of entries, three were lucky enough to be chosen as winners of a headphone, a portable speaker and a luggage bag and so, this was how we officially closed the Quality Roadshow event… with a high note!
