Free time is short and precious. Tell us how you choose to spend it.
My free time, yes, it is very precious and for this reason I’ve chosen to spend it by doing things which can feed the joy and the enthusiasm needed in everything I do. I love music! I play many instruments, for example the guitar, the trumpet and the piano, and I also teach kids to play the guitar and wind instruments.
Tell us, in a few words, what is your activity and how long have you been practicing it.
I learned to play the guitar when I was 7-8 years old, but after a short period I got bored of it and I quit. I started to study the trumpet at the age of 10 years and since then I like it a lot. When I was 15 years old, I realized that my period of adolescence needs something more for my “soul” and I felt that it was the time to begin to study again the guitar. I started then at the age of 18-19 years to teach children guitar lessons and I really enjoy this passion.
What caused you to opt for this way of spending your free time and what motivates you to continue this activity?
The major factor that determined me to do this was the desire of not losing my youth with all kinds of activities that had brought me satisfaction. In addition I wanted to be useful and to leave something. Things that I will not be ashamed of. The satisfaction when I see the results motivates me and then I live from this joy.
How many hours a day do you dedicate to your passion?
I can not say that I am dedicating time to my passion every day. Of course the classes with the children I teach are scheduled but for me personally I dedicate as much time as I can.
What knowledge, skills, studies and efforts involves the work you carry out?
I studied classical guitar at the music school for 3 years, but they were just an introduction. It involves much individual study, perseverance and determination. My opinion is that when you teach someone to play a musical instrument you must have practiced it enough in order to speak from your personal experience instead of only theory. It is important for me to understand the block points involved in this activity and also to know how we can get over these moments.
Do you think studies and work push people away from their passions?
No, I disagree with this statement. It is normal to change your priorities with age and having a job you do not have so much time to dedicate to your passion. But studies or work should not push you away from what you really like. Another important factor I think is the person who stays beside you, your husband or wife, and how much he or she takes care of your passion and vice versa. I do not think that you can say you gave up on your passion because you had to choose between work and passion. This should not happen!
What is the greatest satisfaction or the most important gain you gain from your work?
The biggest gain is when I see the evolution of a person right under my eyes. For example, how a child enters the field of music and how it develops and acquires the necessary knowledge. The results make me feel accomplished!
How do you merge work with passion? Do you still have time for yourself and your family?
Yes, I have time. I work 8 hours per day. So there remain 16…kidding. In general, the weekends are dedicated to teaching guitar lessons, but I also make time for this during the week.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to settle down to my house, get married and then think about the development of my guitar courses for children. And why not, maybe a music studio and a music school.
