Today I would like to share one of the most exhilarating moments in my professional career.
I had the incredible honor to attend the 2014 Automotive News PACE Awards ceremony in Detroit on behalf of my business unit and especially on behalf of our innovative engineers. For more information and details about the award visit click here.
For over 20 years the Automotive News PACE Awards have honored superior innovation, technological advancement and business performance among automotive suppliers. This prestigious award is recognized around the world as the industry benchmark for innovation.
Continental Automotive was able to get three product awards applications into the finalist round. One of the products was the Multi Application Unified Sensorelement (MUSE) coming out of the business unit Passive Safety & Sensorics, that I had the honor to represent.
About 30-40 finalists across the industry were invited to the award ceremony. Typically 10-15 would be awarded as a winner. The winners would be announced at the ceremony. It almost felt like we were at the Oscars.
When the MUSE was announced as a winner and my name was called for me to go onstage, my heart stopped for a brief moment, then leaped forward, and started racing.
I couldn’t have been any more proud of my team, when I got up on stage to give my 60 second speech.
If you think this is the end of the story, I have to disappoint you. When the next issue of the Automotive News magazine came out I found myself on the front page. How much better can things get?
A big thank you to our team in Toulouse, who deserves all the credit for this. They developed the sensor and convinced the judges of its superiority!
