¡Hola! My name is Jasmin, I’m 20 years old and I’m living in the beautiful Weißbach, Germany. I’m doing my training as an industrial clerk with the additional qualification International Business Management at the Benecke-Hornschuch Surface Group, a business unit of ContiTech.
My stay abroad as part of my training as an industrial business management assistant with the additional qualification International Business Management I wanted to spend in a beautiful city, in which not only the learning of the language was in the foreground. Therefore, my choice fell on the capital of Catalonia: Barcelona. The planning of the entire stay I could arrange freely at my own discretion but was fully supported by my training company, both organizationally and financially.
The arrival took place on a Sunday. With the airplane I started at 2:00 pm in the afternoon in Frankfurt and landed just two hours later in Spain. From the airport Aeroport de Barcelona-El Prat it only takes 30 minutes by taxi to the center, where I picked up my keys. Afterwards, I went to the shared apartment, which was arranged by my organization. The nervousness was soon laid, as my Dutch roommate presented to me friendly. The other girls from China and France arrived a few days later.
In the first two weeks I planned a language course at the language school Enforex, which was only a few minutes of walking away from my shared flat. On the first day, I absolved a language assessment test. After that I went to my class, which was consisted of about 5 to 10 students who came from the wider world: from Belgium, England, Israel, Brazil to Japan… It was a great experience getting in touch with such diverse people and making friends. The language course called “Intensive 25” took place daily from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and expanded my knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and language.
After school, sightseeing was on my mind. I visited, for example, the famous cathedral Sagrada Família, fountain Font Màgica, beach Barceloneta, market La Boqueria, viewpoint Bunkers del Carmel and various art museums. Spontaneously, I also attended a concert by the Spanish-German singer Alvaro Soler.
The following two weeks I spent with a distributor of my training company, where I did an internship. My daily task was to combine different designs of wallpaper products that the company distributes, and to add them to the system, so that the online shop will show suggestions. Furthermore, I created orders and invoices and translated Spanish texts into English.
I spontaneously traveled with a friend over a weekend to Málaga to two other friends who were traveling there as well. We visited a rooftop bar, went by boat to the sea and sunbathed on the beach at 25ºC.
The whole stay abroad was a lot of fun and I was able to learn a lot. Through different situations, I was challenged every day and quickly learned to handle and grow with it. There are wonderful memories that I do not want to miss anymore.
