Hello, my name is Simon Tebeck and together with Kevin Gillich I take part in the project We L.O.V.E. Europe – Europe without borders from Continental. We are happy to be able to travel to Timisoara, Romania.
In Timisoara we arrived quite late, so, unfortunately, we hadn’t have the chance to see much of the city this evening. We were picked up by our project buddy Christian who took us to the hotel. Once there we went directly to bed to start the next day fresh and cheerful.
The next morning started quite relaxed. I was introduced to all my colleagues, as well as my local project buddy. I was greeted by everyone very cordially and we understood each other right off the bat. We were first led around in our factory, afterwards we visited the tires production, not far away from the main office. The next day we first went to ContiTech and then again to our location. In the tires production and at ContiTech, everything was explained to us in German.
After a few days we’ve found a good working rhythm and were well integrated into the daily business. Every day, we go by bike to the Continental plant, which were provided to us free of charge by the hotel. I was assigned to the workshop where I solder all the components according to plan to the printed circuit board (PCB). Quite simple, but nevertheless an important task.
Kevin, on the other hand, is in the production of faucets and is allowed to look closely at everything and do small things, such as changing contact heads. Also we both met Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld, Manager of Continental Automotive Romania and Dr. Ralf Luchs, the Plant Manager from Continental Central Electronics Plant in Timisoara. They took us to dinner several times and explained us interesting facts about Continental and about Romania. Although we like Timisoara pretty much, we are looking forward to our next destination Budapest.
